Zurich and Mt Rigi

Zurich was fun! Jo came over and bunked in with me. Expected Crowne Plaza room to be huge and nice, but its quite dissapointing! The room was tiny and hardly space to move around. Got a room with 2 single beds side by side, just nice for each of us to sleep comfortably!

Had lunchie at an Italian restaurant opposite the hotel, was fuming hungry since I hadn't had any proper food since touch down. Just some chocs and snacks.

The chef was quite thoughtful in seperating the pizaa into 2 portions for the both of us.

Zurich is relatively easy to get around with trams. Tickets can be purchased at the tram station with zonal prices. Ticket checkers come on randomly to trams to check your tickets, so it depends on your luck when you try to hitch a free ride.

Roaming around the city area and walking around randomly

Headed to H&M for some shopping! OMG, look at the doggie being chained by its owner when she shops. Poor dog!

I'm surprised that dogs are actually allowed in shops, but then again the dogs are really well trained and tamed. They don't go around sniffing strangers and making a nusiance. This doggie is so cute, its dragging along a lump of dust mixed with hair from the floor.

Hate it that the shops close so early, at like 6pm?

The view across the river.

Across the river houses the happening restaurants and bars after the shops are closed.

Dined at The Pasta Shop. Sells all pasta.

Had cabonara pasta in a smaller size, and the waiter says people have it for appetizer. It's like sooooo huge a plate and how can anyone have it for appetizer?!

Alfresco dining along the streets, and its possible cos the weather is awesome, not so warm and humid like in Singapore! Love it.

Jo with her Bombay Delights pasta, and it tastes like the Malay fried maggie!

Bought this bottle of green tea cos the bottle packaging looks very pretty!

We were supposed to go for a mountain tour to mount titilis which we booked through the hotel. It was 149 swiss franc and thought it was very expensive, thats close to $200sgd! So just 10 mins before the pickup time, Jo called the recption and said that "her friend" had a diarrhoea and wasn't able to make it to the tour. After some dillydally, we finally managed to cancel it and researched on how to make it to the mountains on our own!

If we wanted to go to Mount Titilis, we could take a train to Endelberg via Luzern, den take the rotair, which is a cable car up (cost about 70SF) However, when we were at the train station, the train ticket to Endelberg is 70SF, and adding up everything was much more than the tour itself! OHHNOO!

Luckily there was a tourist info service, and we headed there for some info. The guy at the counter was very nice and taught us how to get to Mount Rigi which was the easiest and most cost saving way. He even helped us purchase and print the ticket from the comp, gave us the necessary info for the train arrivals and timings! phewww he saved us for the day!

The train station with many platforms and trains, looks complicated but still relatively easy to find.

That's the train we took. I realised getting around europe seems quite easy and convenient with inter-city trains. Its much better than taking a flight, and seats are very comfy.

Alighted at Gouldau Station, and walked for another 10 minutes to take a tram to Mount Rigi

Tadaa. this is at the windows of the tram station! Looks so pretty!

The tram to Mount Rigi takes around 30 minutes to get to the top of the mountain, which is Rigi Kulm. It stops at various stops along the mountain, so you can alight where ever you want to, BUT the tram comes every 1 hours, so if alighted at the wrong stop, gotta get stucked there for an hour!

Its 12 noon and its starting to get hot, yet we are decked in cold wear to prepare for the cold! ohhnoo, wrong attire!

View along the way up to the mountain! Saw moomoos along the way!

Yays! At the top of the mountains now! The view is breathtakingly beautiful!

Decided to take the offbeaten path to explore the area. Glad we are here on our own instead of following a tour where we wouldn't have so much free and easy time to roam around.

This was what got us excited! MOOMOO at one part of the mountains!

Jo climbed up the slope to take pics of the cows and I followed suit!

Here's a dandelion!

The cows are so chillax, just eat sleep and look at nice mountains everyday. They are cornered by barbed fences in case they run off to other places.

nom nom nom!

Hahahah, this is sucha classic ricola ad! The cow and mountains.

Then we walked and walked to the other side of the mountain where we could see a bird's eye view of the bottom of the mountain!

Realised something interesting, and that is the patches of grass at the bottom appears to be in squarish blocks. Wondered what they did to it.

Had some light snacks at a hotel cafe at Rigi Kulm.

My fave victorian styled mirror in XXXL size!

Heeeheee posing at the standee!

The milkmaid dress looks quite cute!

Took a tram to the other side of the mountains to take a cable car. The doggie just layed there obediently!

Saw more cows along the way!

Interesting postcards. The swiss flag looks like an ambulance sign.

We boarded the cable car but it takes another 20 minutes before it starts moving! Luckily we were first to board and grabbed the best seats!

Then others boarded and these little kiddies sat on the floor with their ice creams. So cute!

OH NO! It started pouring and couldn't catch any nice views. It became misty and foggy. Nothing but raindrops and clouds.

When we reached the bottom of the mountain, we were stucked there cos if we take a bus to one of the train station to take a train back to Zurich, it would be kinda complicated. If we took a ferry to Luzern, we gotta wait 50mins for the next ferry and pay additional for ferry and train. So the best way was take the cable car back up and go back the way we came. What a long way back =(

By the time we're back at Zurich, its Sunset.

We were determined to get a taste of Swiss Cuisine, which was cheese fondue and rosti. The cheese fondue ordered has got cherry brandy in it and doesn't taste that nice. Was given squarish cut bread to dip in the cheese. Not that nice afterall!
