Frankfurt, to the Rhine

18 hours of flight, from the 4 hours of delay, OMG damn shag. Headed to the Mariott hotel, which sucks! We gotta pay 9.95Euros a day for wifi, what to do? Wanted to get a SIM card from the shops but the reception said the nearest shop is 10 minutes from the hotel, near the train station. First time in frankfurt and I'm not even familiar with the surrounding nor know how to speak german, so decided to suck thumb and pay the 9.95euros for wifi a day.

After a few hours rest, headed to Mario Lino, a bistro for foodie.

Ordered the woodfired pizza to share. The pizza is really cheap, like around 5 - 6 euros? And its good!

Ordered ribbon noodle with chicken in "hello kitty sauce" or "pink sauce". Its supposed to be a mixture of cabonara and tomato sauce, so that it would be so gelate after eating so much of it. But the waiter probably didn't catch it and gave me tomato sauce =( The spagetti looks like the chinese ban mian lor, so upset!

The desert was yummy! I can't remember the german name for it, but it's heavenly! Choc icecream covered with cocoa powder. yumyum!

The next day, Tricia and I went for a tour to the Rhine river. Wanted to visit a castle but heard that we aren't allowed to take pictures inside the castle, so it kinda defeats the purpose. This tour is supposed to take us on a boat along the Rhine River and there would be castles along the way.

Its operated by Green Line tours, cost around 80+ euros, plus 5euros to and fro pick up from hotel.

First, they dropped us off at an area which we thought we're heading to the toilet, and seems like everyone is heading out and queuing up.

Then we realised, we're in for the chairlift ride. Its optional and since we're already there might as well just take it. Its another 5euros and we just sucked thumb and get cheated again. HAHA.

Wasn't much of a regret cos the scenery was nice. Its open-concept kinda cable car so its quite cool, unless one is afraid of heights.

Wheeee reaching sooon!

After alighting, we just followed the trail of the tourguide and passed by many beautiful buildings and houses!

The houses all looks so nice and I love the flowers outside the windows of those houses! Looks so adorable and sweet.

Then we stopped at a restaurant for lunch!
The interior is very nice! Even the toilet looks awesome. But the food isn't that tasty, the chicken thigh is a lil dry and even the fries taste nicer than the chicken.

Inside the toilet!

Just a snapshot before boarding the ferry cruise.

This is one of the castle atop the hill! Looks good but looks kinda inaccessible

Along the river, there's houses and plantations. Its nice just relaxing on the ferry and enjoying the scenery.

There's many stops where people can just board or alight the ferry. Its kinda chillax on the ferry, there's tables and chairs and people can just order food, drinks and enjoy the scenary.

.

Soon it started to pour and everyone scrambled to the second level which is the indoor area.

Then back to the same restaurant for wine tasting. Past by this cute little house with nice flowers!

There's 4 kinds of wines to taste. The sweetness of the wines depends on the month at which the grapes are harvested. If it is harvested earlier part of the year, the grapes are juicier so its not that sweet, which means it also requires lesser amount of grapes to produce a bottle of wine.

The first one was red wine which is made by 5kg of grapes grinded and made into red wine. Its purely grape juice and no sugar/water added so they claimed its more costly than those cheap wines in the supermarket.

The second one is a white wine, pinot noir in grape varietal which uses 10kg of grapes to produce a bottle of wine.

The third one is dessert wine which uses 20kg of grapes to produce a bottle of it. Its usually eaten with dessert. It taste quite nice but a lil sweet.

The last one we tried is the ice wine whereby the grapes are only harvested at the time when there's snow. Just that rare one or two nights, and the grape diggers have to selectively pick out the lil shriveled up grapes, which has became raisins to produce this ice wine. It requires about 50kg of it, wow!

That's the display of wines in the shops for people to buy. Out of the whole group, only saw one guy who bought 4 bottles of it. There's a buy 3 get 1 free promotion but doesn't seem very popular.

Here's how it looks like at the other side of the rooms. Tables and chairs inside the wooden barrels.

London in June

Went to check out the Change of Guards at Buckingham Palace. To get to Buckingham Palace, you gotta arrive at either Victoria or St Jame's Park, on the Circle/District line, and its just a 10 - 15 minutes walk from there. You'll see a park and lots of people walking on this path of street, and you'll know they are all gonna be there to see the change of guard. It takes place at around 11.30am. So near to that time, the new shift of guards were prepared and in their squad, ready to march out.

This guard riding on the horse would be guarding the roads and controlling the traffic. If I were to be inside the vehicle, I'd get a shock seeing this man on top of the horse in the middle of the road!

Here comes the marching band playing the music, followed by the troop of guards marching in.

Guess what's next, a troop of men on the horse entered the palace! How cool is that?!

That's the entrance of the palace from the faraway where I was standing. Couldn't even catch a glimpse of the official ceremony of the handover. =( Should have came earlier to catch a good spot.

Tried going through the other way where some were standing there, just outside the palace overlooking at the ceremony. But it was all cordoned off! So, went back to the original road just outside the palace.
Then, it was 5 mins past 12 and the old set of band came marching out! But i had a feeling the previous set of band just changed into this outfit with the big furry hat and marched out!

Looks kinda cool yea? Then followed by the off-duty guards who marched out. Bet they're damn happy to be off work/duty!

London Taxi with its flag on!
On the way back to the train station, past by an ancient looking building with very european architecture, and guess what, its a university building! Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

I love these kinda european styled buildings that i MUST have a picture with myself in it, so here it goes. Its definitely gonna be awesome living in these kind apartments.

Then, headed down to Harrods. Its a high end shopping mall, and you can recognise it with all the British flag hanging outside the Mall.

Harrods is at Knightsbridge station on the Piccadilly Line.

This is a rare shot that I managed to capture with a bird in it!

I love the toilet of Harrods, though its kinda hard to find it! There wasn't any toilets on the ground level, and had to scramble through the next level in search of one. Inside the toilet, there was some perfumes layed out at small table near the sinks, and one can actually test it out without the stress and stares of the sales assistant at the respective beauty counter and I thought it was a really great idea for promoting a certain product subtlely without the pushy sales staff and encourages trial.

I realised something, and that each new section that you step into has a completely new theme. Like this section of the mall selling branded bags in an egyptian themed deco. Its really free to see kinda concept where bags are just placed along the shelfs/table without those sales assistants guarding it, so at least it makes browsing less stress free that you gotta bother the sales person to show this and that to you. And if you aren't that well dressed, they probably wouldn't even bother attending to you. Bitchy much right?

The main aim of coming to Harrods is to get some chocs. WOW, the selection is huge and it looks so yummy. Its a room full of chocs of different brands.

The lift is so special, I had to take a picture in it.

Thats the doorman! He only welcomes girls taking picture with him! haha!

The window display outside Harrods, and that the prince and princess wedding!

Heeeheee.. If only I could steal the crown.

Thats Selfridges, but I didnt step in to check out the stuffs. Probably wouldn't be getting anything there YET.

Off to Primark! Everyone's favourite shop. Apparels at just a few pounds! wooots.

Look at those funny jumpsuits! Doubt anyone will buy it unless for pre-halloween shopping?

How to not miss out on catching a play/musical in London! Its really cheap there compared to in Singapore. To get DISCOUNTED tix, head down to Leicester Square! There's a row of shops with box offices selling discounted tix at around half the price. The trick is, just get a ticket, and then during the intermission, swop to one with better view!

I took out the ticket to snap a picture, and guess what! After that, I was soooo blur I forgot to put in back into my bag. Who says girls wouuldn't lose the ticket!!! The lucky chaps who picked up the tickets I left on the dining table.

Luckily the guys at Garrick Theatre were really nice! Phew. I showed them the picture i had of the ticket and they reissued another ticket at their box office, and let us in.

The show was soso only, not much of props. Just sleazy, sexy, slutty clothed guys and girls, with props like chair, ladder and feather bower. Nowonder its so much cheaper than the other shows. Would love to watch Lion King, but the tix are at 50pounds, and its kinda ex! Its sold out too =(

It started at London time 8pm, which was Singapore time 3am. So freaking shag to appreciate and enjoy the show. Yawns!
